Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

Hippo Lodge uses solar power as much as possible to minimise energy consumption.

We work and coordinate closely with the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) on anti-poaching initiatives to protect wild animals and their habitats. Staff act as honorary wildlife police officers and provide the use of boats to ZAWAfor additional protection.
